remove.bg's own website closes on 2026-12-01
remove.bg's standalone site stops on 2026-12-01 at 9:00 CET and its background remover moves into Canva. Unused pay-as-you-go credits expire that day.
remove.bg says its standalone website will no longer be available from 2026-12-01 at 9:00 CET. Background removal moves into Canva, which has owned remove.bg since 2021. The self-service API (the way other apps connect to remove.bg) and the Photoshop and other plugins stop the same day. Monthly plans keep working until then, and any last renewal on or after 2026-11-01 is free. Yearly subscribers get a refund for the unused time.
Use up your pay-as-you-go credits before December, because they expire. Download your invoices and usage report from your account page too, since accounts close with the site.
To remove a background for free, upload the photo to Gemini or ChatGPT and ask for a plain background. Canva includes the same remover in Pro at $18 a month. More options are in photo editing.
