GPT-6 now runs on ChatGPT's free plan
OpenAI brought GPT-6 to every ChatGPT user. Free and Go plans get GPT-6 Luna, and paid plans get GPT-6 Sol.
OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT on 2026-10-07. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got GPT-6 Sol that day, and Free and Go users got GPT-6 Luna from 2026-10-08. It comes with what OpenAI calls Intelligent UI: an answer can include a chart, a map, buttons or a small tool such as a bill splitter, right in the chat.
If you use ChatGPT for free, a newer model now answers you at no extra cost. OpenAI says the quick Instant mode starts answering questions that need a web search 44% sooner on average than the version before it. The free plan still shows ads and has message limits.
ChatGPT stays our best pick in AI chat. Plus at $20 a month adds GPT-6 Sol and removes the ads.
